Maths.

In the beginning of the year I didn’t know any of my basic maths.

But now I know all of them. I learnt how to do them on a website called xtramaths. I have 6 accounts on that website and I really love working on xtramaths.

I love working on my multiplications. Another site is Maths Whizz I just finished working on Ratio that’s really hard and I think I have another lesson on it i’m hoping to do well and if I don’t get the results I was hoping for unless I can say I tried.

My Mosaic

I’m making a tile. This is the design that I have chosen to do.


I’m in the process of making a tile that represents me. The year 8’s at Pt England School are working on a piece of mosaic, that we can leave behind as memory of us when we were at Pt England School. So when we are older we can look back and be proud of the work that we have done.


I chose to do this design is because I’m maori and I really like being involved with the maori culture and I also like listening to reggae music. I think that my design looks alright but I don’t think I can change it because I’m scared that if I change it I might mess it up. But I’m happy with this design.


I think my design is going to turn out really cool and original. But yeah will see how it turns out. At the moment I’ve just finished my drawing I haven't started on my tile but i’m really looking forward to working on this piece of artwork during the rest of the week.


I’m really excited to see how it turns out.

Rugby :)

I played rugby for the school last term. I loved playing rugby with the girls.

The reason I like to play rugby is because I like playing physical sports. My first rugby experience was when I played in the 7’s team, we played at Avondale racecourse, it was a very big stadium. We challenged a school called Kowhai first, we had lost to them, and that made us want to work towards winning the next game.


The position I played in rugby was blind side flanker. Our last game was last term and we played against a school called Koru intermediate. The game was very hard and we just lost to them.The highlight of that day was when, I ran through a lot of girls, I had made heaps of yards then it came to the end I had to go through one more girl to score the try...BUT she tackled me. I think we would of got that try if I had someone to pass the ball to, but its okay because it was a good game and I loved that we got to finish off the season strong.                                        
So as I was going to get changed I said to the girls I really don’t want rugby season to end aye? and they were like “yeah”. So i’m really looking forward to playing rugby in Austrailia. I hope pt england inspires more girls to play rugby just like they inspired me. 

When I signed up for rugby, I didn't have a clue how to play! Now I know how to play, I really like playing rugby. 

Athletics.

Every student at Pt England has a house colour. Britney's house colour is Tainui(blue). These groups are joined together on days, such as Cross Country and Athletics. Last week Thursday was their Athletics day and Britney was in Tainui. 

“Left and Right” , “Pick a side” said the lady in the blue. Britney picked the right side to jump from because she was right handed. Most of the people in the group had picked to jump from the right side. Not much people wanted to jump from the left side.  Britney found out that it was best for her to jump from the right side , because the people that were right handed and that jumped from the left side didn’t really do well. Britney said “ I don’t think I made it but unless I tried my best.” So we went off to do her next event, Sprinting.


“FINALLY” said Britney. It was time to race against some of the fastest girls in her age group. Britney loved to run short distance. As the first race ended Britney came back to the starting line with a smile on her face, “ I came 2nd she said to one of the girls. She said one of the hardest things in the first race was trying to catch up to Pesi, But Pesi came first. “It was really tiring but challenging at the same time. Britney said that she really liked racing with Pesi and her friends. SO now it was time to race for the finals see who wins first place. Before the finals Britney’s legs were cramped up from the other races, and her mouth was really DRY like REALLY, so before the race started, Britney went and asked one of the teachers for a drink, sadly they said NO because the race was going to start. She went and got back into line ready to race. She raced and she came in 4th place. After the race had finished she went to have a long cold drink. Then off they went to Discus and other events.


As the day was ending  Britney felt pretty good about herself. After that she went back to her class and waited for the bell to go, so she could go home.

My Toy Story.

I have a Rubix cube. I play with it when I'm bored. I like it because its challenging. This term our topic is TOY STORY. Every toy has a story behind it. I've just told you what my toy story was.

Trouble With Weddings (revamp)

So in this story there is a girl named Tegan and she gets a bit upset about her dad getting married to some other woman.
                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                            
Tegan calls her friend Jenny on the phone and says “ I have some very bad news ”, Dad asked Alex to marry him. You might be wondering who Alex is, she is a close friend. Any way Tegans dad had purposed to Alex, and Tegan didn’t like it. Tegan describes Alex to be, always cheerful and she always cracks dad up with laughter and with that laughter he brings out a smile. Jenny Tegan’s best friend, is interested in, when the wedding is going to take part, Tegan says “sounds like your more interested in the wedding instead of my problems”.

Tegan wanted to see what the wedding ring looked like, so she went into dad’s draw and found the wedding ring just sitting in its case. Tegan tried the ring on and (OH NO) the ring had got stuck on Tegans finger. Tegan panicked and told Jenny. Jenny worked out many strategies to make the ring come off, but sadly none of them worked. The ring came off while Tegan was having a sleep and in the morning the ring was nowhere to be seen.

They finally found the ring, it was in the vacuum cleaner because Mrs Wells the maid/cleaner vaccumed it up. It was time for the couple to get married. They arrived at the church and dad just realized that he had forgotten the ring at home, so he jumped in the car and hurried back home.

I thought this book was really cool and funny and I would like to read another book just like that.

Jessie J - (second attempt)

Do you know who Jesse J is ?

Jessica Ellen Cornish, on the other hand she is also known as Jessie J. She started singing worldwide last year in February . Since then she has recorded and released songs like; Nobody's perfect, Who's Laughing Now, Who you are. Domino , Price Tag and other songs.  

‘Who you are’, is one of the best songs I think she has recorded. Not only is she a good singer, her songs are really inspiring. In the song, ‘Who you are’ I’m pretty confident
that the message throughout the song is,  be faithful to yourself and to others.

I think Jessie J, is a really talented singer.

Reading eggs. No.2

Reading eggs, an online program that can help you get better at Spelling, Grammar and Comprehension.

When I was in the process of first using Reading eggs I didn’t have a clue what to do. For me now Reading eggs is really fun and helps you learn, along with that I really enjoy independent reading.

To be honest I didn’t know what comprehension was until I started using reading eggs. In Reading eggs, after your comprehension activties, it gives you a test, you get scored on how well you did in your test.  Have you ever had a favourite online program?.

I love working on Reading eggs.

This piece of writing is a duplicate of my first story about Reading eggs, I have re-edited it and hopefully its a lot better than my first post.

Reading eggs

Reading eggs, is an online program that can help you get better at Spelling, Grammar and Comprehension.

When I first started using reading eggs i didn’t have a clue what to do, but now.... I like reading eggs because it is really fun and helps you learn. Reading eggs has helped me alot with my comprehension, I didn’t know what comprehension was, but I do now.

At the start of the term Mr Barks showed us a new website and it was in fact reading eggs. To be honest I didn’t know what comprehension was until I started using reading eggs.  Have you ever had a favourite online program?, cause I have its reading eggs.

If I could choose between study ladder and Reading eggs, I would probably end up choosing Reading eggs.

Australia

Guess what? , I’m going to Australia.

Well I guess I have to go. My Dad has found a job over in Australia, which in is fact Truck Driving. I want to go and I don’t want to go. The reason I don’t want to go is because I really don’t want to leave my friends. I kind of  want to go because I can meet all sorts of different people.

OBVIOUSLY, I’m going to miss my friends, my family, and my school.  I’ve been at Pt England School for about....... 6 years now.  I’m leaving in September, and I want to make the most of my time here.  

I’m going to miss this SCHOOL.

Xtramaths.

Xtramaths is an online program that helps everyone and anyone, get better at your basic maths skills.

When I first started using xtramaths, I found it really difficult. The reason I found it difficult is because I didn’t know my basic maths; mainly addition and subtraction. I think it took me about 3 weeks JUST to get through the first basic step, addition. I don’t know how long it took me to get through subtraction, but I managed to finish.

After completing addition and subtraction, now I was moving towards multiplication and division. I was on multiplication which took me approximately 5 days. Then it was on to division. Division, for me it was really hard and I knew it was the opposite of multiplication which made it a bit easier to understand.

I am really focused on xtramaths. I have passed xtramaths in 2 stages, 3 seconds, and 2 seconds. I am currently on 1.5 seconds subtraction. I just started today I have about 19 more questions until I can complete this stage. Then I get to move on to multiplication. I can’t wait

I am really looking forward to completing this task and so far I think I have improved a lot.

Beep Test !

I'm not a very fit individual but, the score that I was placed with surprised me.

We were just getting into the beep test, Level 1 … passed that ! Level 2 ….. passed that. But when it came to Level 3 my breathing started to increase, more and more every time I pushed myself.

I was trying to keep pace with the others, suddenly they started fading away and it was just Tyla, Eleva and myself, well out of the girls. We passed level 4 and it was time to start level 5. I couldn’t do it, but my legs started to act up, I just couldn’t take it so I dropped out.

After the beep test, I was finally finished, I felt like laying down, But I wanted to hear my results. 5.2 not bad " I said to myself ".

My Physical Challenge

Room 18 and I have the opportuinity to participate in taking on a physcial challenge that will help us get better at running, push-ups, sit-ups and more. Once we have chosen our challenge, we have to make a plan to show how we can achieve this .

I am going to try to get faster before our school atheletics. To complete this task, I'm going to try run atleast 3 times every week. This means, Monday, Wednesday and Friday afternoon.  Later on I will re-post so you can see the progress I have made during this physical challenge.

I really hope I complete this task as it will help me now as well as later on in life.

GO FOR GOLD !

In Term 3 we are learning about the Olympics.

The last Olympics were held in Beijing China which was in 2008.  At least one colour from the olympic rings are known to appear in each country's flag. The five interlocking rings represent the five out of seven continents; Both North and South America, Africa, Oceania, Europe and Asia.  

Term 3 has kicked off to a great start. Immersion Assembly was put together by Mr Jacobsen and the teachers. Team 1 through to team 5 had the opportunity to show us what they thought the olympics were all about. There were movies presentations and also Items.

The item I best liked was hosted by a team . I really liked team 5’s item because it was really funny and really educating. The reason I liked team 5’s item was because they didn’t just include really important bits, they put in funny bits On the other hand I also liked team 1’s movie because, they got to get up close and personal with real athletes that had also competed in the olympics.

I would like to give a big THANKS! to all the teachers that put together all the movies, they really inspired me to learn more about the olympics.

Writing For This Term

Well this term is coming to a close. Mr Barks has told us to come up with our best piece of writing we can possibly think of.

My goals for next term are to focus on the teacher. I really want to learn more than what I have learnt this term.  I am looking towards posting at least 1-2 blog posts a week, I have learnt from this terms blog posts that I am not posting more to my blog.

To be honest I think this term was a lot of fun and I hope next term can be the same

My Favorite Place

Our task is to go out with a camera and take a picture of our favourite place. Once we've taken our photos we can only select one !. As soon as we have selected the snapshot we are going to use we have to explain why we chose that particular picture and why it stood out from the rest.

My favourite place is the local beach ‘Pt England’. I’ve been to Pt England beach several times. I really like going to Pt England beach because I enjoy fishing there. I’ve remembered all the times we’ve been there mostly positive. Even though Pt England is a cool beach I really like going to Wenderholm.

I picked this picture because I liked that I like to watch the beautiful white shimmery glow in the water. It stood out from the other pictures because I liked how the sand is kind of wavy and bumpy. You see the picture at the top thats what Pt England looks like it awesome.

I also like the view of the beach it’s PRICELESS. Thanks to Chelsea who helped edit my work for me.

Online Novel Study : The Angel Experiment

In Literacy, my group -the Einsteins have been reading an action book called “The Angel Experiment.” This book has Six main Characters, all having a variety of special powers.  I have found this book to be very enjoyable and I think that if you were to reach for this novel, you too would be hooked.

Even though I was hooked from the start, I found chapter 8 very exciting. The first 2 paragraphs really grabbed my attention and from then on, I found it difficult to log off. Flying kids, kidnapped Angels, vicious attacking Erasers...all in one chapter.  Like I said, it truly was exciting!

All though it was a depressing time for them it was very pleasing for me because I really liked the awesome vocabulary the author used to bring out the emotions like , as if you were really in the story.

I really like reading an online Novel because you don’t have to worry about anyone, taking or losing your book. I am looking forward to reading the next part of this story.

FRIENDS

My friends Cael , Ngametua and David are really cool. I first meet David in room 10 which is the very first day I started Pt England School , I really liked David because he always knew what to talk about and he knew when to make you laugh whether you were sad or happy. I meet Cael just last year. I became her friend because she was just like David but she was a girl and I meet Ngametua last year.
