Going To Wellington,

yaay I said to myself, me and my sister are going to Wellington with our Dad, on his truck. As soon as we got in the truck me and my sister played super Tux (game).

When my Dads truck was getting loaded my Dad took me and my sister Cruz, to Mac Donald’s for dinner, my sister had a happy meal and a sundae, I had a Big Mac and a Sundae and with chips, then we headed back to the Yard, were my dads trailer was getting loaded.

We set of to Wellington as soon as my Dad’s trailer was finished, on the way to Wellington we past; Turangi, Taihape, Taumaranui and other places, also on the way there, we saw the Big corrugated gumboot in Taihape, went past the Prisons in Turangi. As it was beginning to get dark, we past a lot of trees that looked like a Silhouette.

When we got to the Wharf in Wellington, Me My Dad and my Sister had some Breakfast at Mainfreight, then went for a shower, after that, Me and my sister went to play at the beach, then we got called in so we went to have some lunch.
I felt good after my lunch I wasn’t hungry anymore.

Aussie Rules

Today Room 20 and I were in for a treat with two Aussie rule coaches, Eamon and Micheal. They were teaching us how to play Aussie Rules, or Kiwi kick.

The field was wet so we had to play in the hall. The drill of the day was learning how to do a pass in Aussie Rules, or Kiwi kick. We also shared our time with Miss Lavakula, and her students from room 9. We had to pick some partners and of course I picked Jane. There were heaps of girls so we paired up with pair of room 9 boys.

The next time we go to Aussie Rules training we might get to learn how to kick.

Science Roadshow

Today Room 20 and I went to a Science Roadshow at Tamaki College, in their school hall. When we arrived, some ladies introduced themselves to room twenty and some of the students at Tamaki College.
The gravity machine was pretty cool, and when you put the big ball down a small ball goes up into the air, then falls back into the cone that it came out of.
We went to the Roadshow to learn more about Science because out topic this term is Bigger, Better, Faster, Stronger and we are looking at inventions and the science ideas might help understand inventions more.

Netball With Emma!

For the past few weeks we have been learning netball skills, Emma our netball Instructor has been teaching room 20 and I how to do a dynamic stretch. There are three types of Dynamic Stretches, Butt-flicks, grape vine and high knees.

One netball drill is about passing. You always have your hands in a W formation then pass it long and strong. I have learnt to chest pass and ground pass. Another drill is about shooting, the ball has to be placed into the palm of whichever hand you write with and the other hand should be supporting it. The last drill of all we looked at was defending. When defending you must always be three feet away from the goal shoot, or the person who you are defending.

Finally, we got to play a game at the end. The bib that I was wearing was WA and that is wing attack. I enjoyed the game, although I did feel tired after the game.

Our 20 Hour Famine Sleepover!

Translating Geometry

Room 20 are exploring how to translate using google drawing, we are learning about Geometry and this is a picture of how I translated this shape. First I didn't know how to translate shapes but now I do, it was kind of hard at first but now it seems easy ,I have used a square for the shape that I had to translate. translating means that you move the shape to one place to another with out resizing it.

The Tornado That Struck Albany.

Yesterday in Auckland New Zealand a powerful Tornado has currently hit the central business district around 3pm damaging a lot of vehicles, this twister has killed one man and had left 14 others in hospital. This tornado is causing left over debris that has been flying into other vehicles and Trucks.

Camp TC Reflection.

“NO”!! why Kayaking first? “Isn’t that a great start to the day” THIS IS NOT THE DESTINATION, I WANTED TO REACH!!

Today was the day of the annual year 7 and 8 camp. My group the respectablez
were the first group to go kayaking.

“Sharks there are sharks in the water” I made that up because I didnt want to go in at this time of the morning, Do you want to know what time we went? well i’m gonna tell you anyway! IT WAS 9:30 AM.

But after all it was pretty fun. Having a partner didn’t really help although I had a blast and well that was my camp TC highlight.

The best thing about camp TC that I enjoyed was the Alligator Allie!I liked the Alligator Allie Because it allowed us to work together. The reason I liked this was because it was challenging and hard.

Taonga Time!!

On Friday after lunch, Rooms 18-22
gathered in the street for Taonga Time. Finally my teacher came forward and collected my group. My teachers name was miss Va'afusuaga.

As soon as we got to the field, Miss Va'afusuaga told us how to play a game called three bats; these bats were, a ping pong bat, a softball bat and a cricket bat.

Our team didn't really have a name, but Miss Va'afusuaga called us the A-Team, and the other the B-Team.

The Amazing Bug Hunt

One day in early November Room 17 and I went on a bug hunt to look for bugs. If you are wondering why we went to look for bugs it is because, it is part of our topic.

When we got there Miss Garden said to find a log, that my whole class could lift well part of it. We found a log and we tried to lift it but we couldn't lift it. It was too heavy for us on one side so we tried the other side and we saw heaps of slugs; snails spiders and worms. They were all going into the dark and back underneath the would.

Miss Garden walked into the grass and looked carefully. She was taking the grass and putting it in the dirt, then she chucked the rest of it at me and screamed, She went over to the other side and picked up a branch and we saw a snails larvae. After finding the snails, I found a tiger worm I went to Miss Garden and showed her the Tiger worm. She said it was because of the stripes so I went to look at it and tiny legs appeared on the bottom of little worms tummy.

Its not a Tiger worm!! Its a millipede! Miss Garden look, its not a Tiger worm its a Millipede.

My Holiday Recount

Brooke can you come down here please? "Coming Dad" I said back. As I step in to the lounge, all I saw was my dad with the car keys in his hand. "Where are you going dad?" He told me I was going to my Aunties. "What me? but I don’t want to go to her house!"
"To bad you're going" he replied.

I haven’t even packed my clothes yet, I didn't feel like going. "Well go and pack them" he said, you need to spend time with your cousins. Ok, ok, I'll go, I replied miserably.

When I got there on Wednesday night, my cousin Che Dee came up to me, and hugged me. I wasn’t in the mood to hug her back, so I went inside. She must of felt stink having no one to play with. Che Dee came up to me and asked if I wanted to play elastics with her? I said "no" Because I don’t know how to play elastics.

I went inside and sat on the couch it was boring there. I was going to ask my dad if he could take me back home but he already left! Man I have to stay here for a week. So I went outside to play elastics with Che Dee.

After playing elastics I went to bed to have a sleep. In the morning it was Thursday and we kept on playing the same game every day until it was Sunday.

That day we went to Ripper Rugby Training. When I saw my dad I got in the car, just said if we can go home. I didn’t feel like playing Ripper Rugby that day. I was playing elastics all that time I was there. Got home and went to play with my cousins and friends. It was really cool after all.

After playing elastics I went to bed to have a sleep. In the morning it was Thursday and we kept on doing the same thing every day until it was Sunday.

That day we went to Ripper Rugby Training. When I saw my dad I got in the car, just said if we can go home. I didn’t feel like playing Ripper Rugby that day. I was playing elastics all that time I was there. Got home and went to play with my cousins and friends. It was really cool after all.

Cool Kiwis

Would you call a kiwi beautiful? I know I wouldn't. Its plumage is dark and dull and is stiff like dog hair.

The Kiwis feathers are not like other birds. The most ridiculous thing about its bill it can grow up to 20cm long.

The average size of a kiwi is the size of the chicken, the smallest kiwi is called the little spotted kiwi that is smaller than a rugby ball.

The largest kiwi is twice the size of a football.

Did you know kiwis are flightless birds? They have small stubby wings with a curled claw at the end. Their wings are as wrinkly as a old man's face.

Do you know kiwis are fast? They have really Strong powerful legs that can out run a human. They use their legs to fight predators. Kiwis use their strong legs to dig up burrows which is used to lay their eggs in. Some times they bulid it in a log or under the roots of the tree.

And there you have it how could you possibly reist a; flightless,rediculous ,wrinkeled winged,chicken sized burrow buliding speceies?

Cross Country

When I walked into school I saw the chairs with the ages on the back of it. I thought we were having a team cross country this looks like a whole school one. What a nightmare!

It is so embarrassing I Know Ill come last, but Chanel in front of me didn't seem worried. Maybe I should be like her she isn't worried. When Miss Garden came around with a cosy blanket I didn't want to get up.

As Mr Barks called the 11 year old boys and girls my legs started to wobble I started to panic and my legs started to wobble even more ''don't worry'' Pesi said ''Ill run with you''

Ready set Bang!!!!! I know Pesi said that she will run with run with me but I see is me doing a little spurt and leaving Pesi behind. As I was making my way to Miss Burn I had to stop and look for Pesi I can see her she is coming 3rd out of the girls there is no way I'm gonna catch up to her. Thinking at the last minute I was trying and trying to catch up to her but the mud was so slimy all my energy was drained out just from trying to get out of the mud.

Making my way to the finish line I triped and heard Miss King saying ''come on Brooke You can do it you can do it win for Tainui'' I got up with an angry feeling and finished the race I felt great because I had finished that horrible race.

Tenpin Bowling Last Week

On Saturday last week me and my family went to have a game of Tenpin Bowling. When We got there my Dad gave us some money to get some tokens for the games. When I got my tokens I went to the deal or no deal machine so I can win the same amount of tickets that my mum had and guess what it was out of older!!!! then I went to my mum and I told her that I was gonna get more tickets than her and did you know what she said to that? she said in my dreams!

So I went to this machine where you have to hit the the head down and then they come back up and guess how many tickers I got from that machine? I got sixteen tickers.

When it was our turn to start bowling my uncle Paul was First then my mum and so on, guess who was last me! well it was my mums turn and she had got the gutter on the first to turns that she had when it had gutter my auntie I asked if I could take her turn and she said yes I had got the bowling ball and then I just through it guess what I had got my auntie I got her a strike.

Then it got to my turn I got seven tickets when we had finished the game of tenpin bowling we had added up the points. In 1st place was my Auntie with 76 points In 2nd placee was my Mum With 70 points In 3rd place was Me with 68 points In 4th place was my Uncle paul with 62 points and in Last place was my brother who had 54 points. Then after the game we went home.

Polynesian Settlers

1000 years ago Polynesians were the first people to come to New Zealand, from east Polynesia their canoes had woven sails. They can to have a single hull or a double hull.

Trained navigators had seen birds feeding of sea so that will mean that land is near by, the stars will guide them by night. Possibly two maneged to cross the empty stormy sea.

Rugby On Saturday

Have you ever played rugby in your life ? Do you think it is amazing ?

On Saturday my brothers team the Pakuranga jaguars, was playing the manerewa marlens under 12's. My brother was very happy because he was playing against his old friends from school.

Taiapa ( my brother ) was a sub. When he came on he scored lots of tries he got three tries in the first half.

Tommy can do really high kicks he did one, and even though it was really high my brother manged to catch it. Run away try run away try every one called as he got the third try of the game.

It was the second half, my brother was tired had to get of . He got tackeld in the stomach and in the legs. But my brther did not give up.

At the endof the game brian the coach said who careswhat the club says you all get three points. Guess what the whole team go player of the day.

Bring It On 2010

2010 Bring it on Dance Competition against collage schools was at Trusts Stadium out west.

Heaps of schools went; Tamaki Collage, Otahuhu Collage, Wesley Collage, De La Salle, Boutney down collage and many more.

The School I liked was De La Salle because they had jokers, back flips with out any trampolines and they main dancer there were two but this one did a suicide flip and he was really scary because of his costume.

Serving The Umu Food

The cooked food is carried to the table, from the umu, so every one can eat it. Before any one eats the minister prays. Then everyone helped themselves to the food yum!. It tasted delicious.

Hokey Pokey With Mr Hunia

Mr Hunia melted sugar and golden syrup, in a sauce pan to dissolve them. The mixture was golden brown and very runny. backing soda was added to the mix .That's when the chemical reaction occurred!.Suddenly the hokey pokey started to froth up and expand looking like a big blob full of gas bubbles.
Just like molten lava the hokey poky is very runny like liquid.As the lava cools down,the hokey pokey has grown in size and has heaps of porous.

I felt a little sick because there was to much baking soda in the hokey pokey.

Dance

On Friday Room 17 went to Tamaki collage for P.E with a teacher named Mr Borland we had just finish playing get the waka across to the other side of the wreck. After that game we played a game octopus the aim of the game is to get to the other side with out people touching you. What ever you say that you can see on a persons body like if you have black shoes. The last two person I saw was Chanel but there was another person who made it.

Underwater Volcano Experiment

On Friday we had did an experiment with Ms Crowther we were going to see if we can form an under water volcano.

The red was the magma,when we put the bottle in the glass the magma rose up the top of the glass was all red and the bottom of the glass was just clear.

On Friday room 17 were doing silhouette pictures with our teacher Ms Crowther. Silhouette pictures are when the sky turns into a really beautiful red and when you look at a tree it isn't really green it is black.

This term we are learning about volcanos.What I have found out is that the lava inside the volcanos isn't lava,it is Magma.Magama is very hot.
There is four kinds of volcanos one is called a active volcano,sheild volcano,a compsite volcano and a extinct volcano.
